I have been a full-time professional artist now since 2015 and although I wish I had had the opportunity to develop my passion for creating art as a young person, I cannot ignore the life-experiences that have formed my present love of landscape and nature. Originally born in North Lanarkshire, I moved away in the mid 1970s to marry and raise my four daughters in Oxfordshire. In 2002 I moved to East Anglia and after a time established myself as an artist in Southwold (Suffolk), only returning to Scotland in 2014.It has always been the land that has inspired me: the sleepy traditional chocolate-box country villages of the Oxfordshire/Cotswolds area; the huge skies of East Anglia; the drama of glens and mountainous landmass of Scotland. I have been fortunate to have experienced living in all of these places. I currently live in the ‘Wee Red Toon’ of Kirriemuir which is commonly known as ‘The Gateway to the Angus glens’.Most of my work is in oils or acrylic although I do enjoy using other mediums such as watercolour, pastels and mixed media. My most recent artistic development is print making, particularly wood engraving and wood cut relief printing. Everyday objects spark a creative interest within me and I often paint whatever is around me whether it is a piece of fruit, a few everyday objects or an arrangement of things that have caught my eye. I have now introduced into my portfolio some very affordable original prints and small artworks in the form of greetings cards which can be mounted and framed as a gift. I have also been working on a collection of wooden painted tags and tree ornaments.Commissions are not currently being accepted due to Covid-19 restrictions. Coronavirus has dominated all of our lives and we are all going through enormous changes in our habits both at home and at work. For the time being I am not offering any workshops, demonstrations or tuition. Neither am I undertaking any commissions at present. All outlets to view and purchase my artwork will be online for the time being.May you all stay safe and well during these difficult times.~Annie~
